Additionally, CASS is accredited by the Indiana Department of Education.
-
CASS is a private, independent classical school in the Catholic tradition. It is not a parochial or diocesan school.
The school is deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. CASS operates fully within the Catholic intellectual tradition with a faithful Catholic faculty and thoroughly Catholic curriculum. Every teacher, administrator, and Board member takes an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
Additionally, our sponsor, the Chesterton Schools Network, is an initiative of the Society of Gilbert Keith Chesterton, an apostolate recently recognized by Archbishop Bernard Hebda as a Canonical Private Association of the Christian Faithful. Our sponsored relationship with the Network and the Society includes the benefit of a Catholic designation.
-
Yes. We do require four years of Catholic theology, the curriculum is infused with Catholic thought, and all students are required to participate in school events, including Mass, retreats, and other prayer services. However, all are welcome to attend!

The Chesterton Academy model is based on delivery of an integrated, Catholic, classical high school education offered at an affordable tuition. Our goal is to equip a new generation of joyful leaders and saints, educated in the classical tradition and the truths of the Catholic faith. Our rigorous, integrated curriculum unlocks student potential and prepares students to succeed in college and professional life, and to excel in service of family, of country, and of Christ our Lord. Chesterton Academy schools rely on the active involvement of parents and work to create a joyful community united in faith and prayer.
-
Classical education can be described as the cultivation of wisdom and virtue through meditation on the good, the true, and the beautiful. The Chesterton Network’s integrated, classical curriculum combines a broad, liberal arts education with a strong emphasis on the development of Christian virtues and an appreciation of beauty. It is our hope that our students will be able to proclaim the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Catholic faith as they encounter an increasingly dark and skeptical world that is so desperately in need of Jesus Christ.
-
Chesterton Academy students fare very well on college entrance exams. Chesterton alumni are accepted at top Catholic and secular universities, and receive valuable scholarships. Chesterton students receive a solid foundation in the humanities, fine arts, and math and science, which provides an academic advantage in further study after graduation. Business leaders seek out Chesterton graduates because they are well-rounded and demonstrate an ability to reason, problem-solve, and communicate well.
-
Yes. Math and science are cornerstones of Chesterton Academy’s classical, liberal arts education. Advanced mathematics and science offerings are available through our STEM track for qualified students.
-
Chesterton Academy takes a minimalist approach to technology. Computers are used for independent study and guided projects and, naturally, students use computers at home for papers and other assignments. Teachers use technology when it facilitates or augments learning.
-
Sports and clubs at Chesterton Academy are student- and parent- driven based on interest.
We currently offer Fall Girls Volleyball and Winter Indoor Track. Our students have also been invited to join Oak Farm Montessori High School sports teams for cross country, tennis, soccer, basketball, track, and golf.
Active clubs include Sacred Music Club and Speech/Debate.
Opportunities for healthy and fun in-school competition and servant leadership are found through the House system, drawn from the 1,000-year-old tradition of Christian education exemplified in the colleges at Oxford and Cambridge.

School Choice Scholarships (vouchers):
Chesterton Academy of St. Scholastica (CASS) has been approved as a recipient of parental school choice through the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program. This program provides financial awards (vouchers) to families of K-12 students in order to offset the cost of tuition at private and religious schools. The scholarships are funded by utilizing a portion of state tax dollars allocated for your child to follow him/her to the non-public school of your family's choice. As parents/guardians, once you have enrolled your child at CASS, if you choose to apply for the Choice Scholarship, we will support you in applying on your behalf. Beginning in 2026-27, School Choice Scholarships are not dependent on income eligibility and are available to all residents. The state of Indiana will allocate the voucher funds to CASS on your child's behalf and CASS will then adjust for any remaining tuition balance.
School Choice Scholarship Award Amounts are based on school district of residence. The 2025-26 Award Amounts by district can be viewed HERE.
The Board at Chesterton Academy of St. Scholastica will evaluate each year whether to re-apply as partners with families in the use of Indiana Choice Scholarship program funds. The mission, philosophy, faith life, and curriculum of CASS is at the forefront of our service to the community at large, and to our high school youth in particular. Indiana Code protects these rights of nonpublic Choice-eligible schools.
CASS will take great care in judiciously (and frequently) examining the relationship between our mission and state deliverables in order to determine whether the partnership will be renewed in subsequent years.
