A New Home for Chesterton Academy
Chesterton Academy of St. Scholastica is pleased to announce the next chapter of our growth: a new school building and location!
Our current school building has been a wonderful, yet small, first home and we will outgrow the building at the end of this academic year. To this end, the board of directors had been diligently searching and praying for a permanent location for some time. For over a year, no viable options presented themselves within Fort Wayne. So, the board did the only thing you can do when you don’t see the path forward: continue and pray and hope in the Lord, relying on the words of the psalmist “If the Lord does not build the house, in vain do its builders labor” (Ps 127:1).
And the answer came from an unexpected place: the CASS board was approached about purchasing the First Baptist Church campus in Garrett, IN. The small and aging congregation had decided to sell their property, but wanted to ensure that their beloved church would go to another community of Christians who could fully use and love the building and grounds. The board immediately envisioned our students dancing in the large congregation space, performing on stage, and gathering for events. They saw students enjoying the green space for strolls and games during lyceum and the opportunities for learning and discussion areas in the other building spaces. So, at the end of June, the First Baptist community sold us their 6000-square-foot building and its five acres of land for a very generous price, allowing us to obtain a mortgage only modestly higher than our current rental costs. We are grateful!
Beginning with the 2027–2028 academic year, Chesterton Academy of St. Scholastica will be located at:
1357 S. Randolph Street Garrett, Indiana 46738
Our new campus offers the space and setting needed to support our continued growth and to deepen our mission of forming young men and women in faith, reason, and virtue through a deeply classical and Catholic education. It also gives proximity to the beautiful St. Joseph Catholic Church, where students and staff will attend daily Mass.
Preparing Our New Home
Before we can occupy the building, it will need restructuring to meet the needs of our students. Renovations include ADA compliance updates, converting existing spaces into classrooms and offices, and interior design beautification.
We warmly invite you to support this exciting stage of our school. All contributions, of every size, are deeply appreciated and will directly help prepare our new home for the students who will learn and grow there.
