Robert Phillips
Teaching Faculty
Jonathan Dr. Robert Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree from North Central College and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate courses within the field as well as interdisciplinary courses which drew upon areas of study from Philosophy and Theology to Business and Economics. His specialties include the History of Political Philosophy, Catholic Social Thought, Religion and Politics and Political Leadership and he has presented and published research in these areas. In addition to his work in the classroom, he served in various executive roles (Chief Academic Officer, Vice-President of Academic Affairs and Provost) for thirteen years in three institutions (Wheeling Jesuit University, Davis & Elkins College and the University of Saint Francis).
He and his wife, Patty, have been blessed with four children and one grandson. They are parishioners at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and he is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Welcome Committee. Dr. Phillips is honored to join the CASS faculty and looks forward to teaching courses in Theology, Philosophy and History in the upcoming academic year.
